Family viticulturalists and producers since 1966, Bodegas Coloma is a business located in Extremadura, SW Spain, with vineyards founded on stony and well-drained soils adjacent to the Guadiana river.
“Bodegas Coloma were one of the first wineries to come to me when I started RT Wine Solutions. Somewhat off the beaten track, Extremadura has many qualities that favour vine cultivation. Since 1966, the family at Coloma have been passionate about their vineyards and sustaining nature: the portfolio contains wines from established varieties but they are conscientiously seeking to reestablish ancient vitus vinifera vines found on their estate. Coloma operate outside the DO through choice, and you have to admire their approach.”

Alarije Dorado
A revived ancient variety indigenous to Extremadura, the Golden Alarije variety has a grassy, herbal, pear and grapefruit nose with a hint of blossom. The palate is beautifully fresh, with moderate concentration and alcohol, leaving a charming light, dry finish. If you like Sauvignon Blanc, this wine is not dissimilar.
